Streszczenie

Karmienie piersią i mlekiem matki jest najzdrowszą formą odżywiania noworodków, niemowląt i małych dzieci zarówno zdrowych, jak i chorych, urodzonych o czasie i przed terminem. Promocja i wspieranie karmienia piersią nie powinny być traktowane jako styl życia, ale jako podstawa właściwych zachowań zdrowotnych. Karmienie piersią jest elementem strategii promocji zdrowia kobiet i dzieci na całym świecie. Rola personelu medycznego w propagowaniu i wspieraniu właściwych praktyk karmienia piersią jest niezbędna do osiągnięcia tego korzystnego celu zdrowia publicznego. Promocji naturalnego karmienia sprzyja postępowanie zgodne z zasadami Międzynarodowego Kodeksu Marketingu Produktów Zastępujących Mleko Kobiece oraz tworzenie przepisów prawa wspierających naturalne karmienie, opierających się na obowiązujących rekomendacjach. Konieczne jest wprowadzanie nowych programów zdrowotnych, mających na celu poprawę warunków karmienia piersią, kontrolę wdrażanych działań oraz tworzenie rzetelnej, polskiej bazy danych dotyczącej laktacji i karmienia piersią.

Abstract

Breastfeeding and feeding with human milk is the best way of feeding infants, both healthy and sick ones, born term and preterm. The promotion and support of breastfeeding should not be considered as a lifestyle but as a basic of health issue. Breastfeeding is the part of the strategy to promote the health of women and children around the world. Medical staff’s role in promotion and supporting proper breastfeeding practices is essential for the achievement of this preferred public health goal. Breastfeeding protection aims to proceed in accordance with the International Code of Marketing of Breast-Milk Substitutes as well as law adjustments based on the current recommendations. It is essential to initiate new health programms improving the conditions of breastfeeding, to verify implemented activities and develop reliable Polish lactation and breastfeeding database.
